CASES:
Lots of vintage cases for sale that I am working on
listing here! All case identification below is gleaned from the
book "Collector's Guide to Barbie® Doll Vinyl Cases"
by Connie Craig Kaplan (thanks so much to Connie). I will include
page numbers in case you also have this great case reference
book. Please note that shipping of cases costs more because of
the size of the box needed, maybe around $10.00 or so. E-mail me if you're
interested in any vintage vinyl cases!
1965
Barbie® Goes Travellin' Carrying Case (blue) - marked "BARBIE is the
trademark of Mattel, Inc., for its DOLL. Used under license from Mattel,
Inc. © 1965 Mattel Inc." This very rare case has the exterior of a
small red and white top-wing plane on one side and a red car on the other side,
with a see-through window on both sides, so that the doll can be seen through
the window on each side when seated inside the case. The graphics are a bit
faded over the years, especially the blue sky painted at the top of each
side. Since the lettering "Barbie goes travellin'" is in white
on each side, it has become a bit hard to read now with the blue sky faded to
pale blue, nearly white, in the background. The car side is more faded
than the plane side. The paintings on each side are really amazing, with
the plane flying over the Rhine Valley in Bavaria with the mountains in the
distance and King Ludwig's Neuschwanstein Castle below in the bottom
right. The car looks like it's driving through a quaint Bavarian
village. Please note again that the graphics are more faded on the car
side, especially the top half of the painting. No scratches or dirt that I
can see. The metal clasp and black plastic handle are both in excellent
shape with no rust. The interior is cream vinyl and is very clean with no
splits. The charcoal gray plastic seat for Barbie is also in excellent
condition and the spaces for storage on each side of the seat are also in good
condition. The metal hanger is intact. I have larger photos of both sides
as well as the interior, so just ask to see them. This case is in very good
condition overall with the exception of the fading of some of the graphics.
Barely played with and you can tell. Very rare and coveted case. (Pg 175) $140.00
(or best offer)

Barbie (R) & Skipper (R)
Barbie's Little Sister Carrying Case (known as the Equestrienne Case) -
marked "BARBIE and SKIPPER are the registered trademarks of Mattel - Made
in Canada" in the lower right front corner and the Mattel Canada logo is
beside this. This trunk measure 12.5" x 13" x 6" deep. It's
in in played with condition. The gorgeous graphics feature a blonde American
Girl Barbie wearing "Riding in the Park" and a blonde Skipper doll
wearing her matching "Learning to Ride" outfit. They look like
they are waiting for their horses in a grassy meadow. The graphics extend
around 3 sides of this cases (not the back) and the details and beauty of the
artwork is excellent. The graphics still look wonderful and vibrant.
When you open it, each side folds down outwards. There is a small tear in
the vinyl at the top of each fold spot on each side of the case. The
interior is in good condition. Two white cardboard drawers are intact and
undamaged. Space for two dolls on the left and hangers along top for
clothing in the middle and on the right. One tear in the vinyl where the
cardboard sticks through on the left side lower fold-over seam. Top black
plastic handle and metal clasp are in good condition. All in all this case is in
really good shape for it's age and use. According to my research this
particular trunk is very rare! (Pg 169-170) $120.00 (or best offer)
1968
The World of Barbie Doll Case (white with blue border) - marked
"BARBIE" is the registered trademark of Mattel, Inc. for its TEEN-AGE
DOLL. This case is very played with condition. There is wear to the blue edges and a
couple splits along the top left spine where the cover opens. The
metal clasp and white plastic handle are in good condition. A few
loose clothes and accessories inside that I don't think are Mattel Barbie items,
at least I couldn't recognize anything. The "Accessories" drawer is
missing. This case would be good for storage. (Pg 26) $7.00

Each plate has half circles embossed around the edges and a large base circle in the center. Very good condition. Hard to find. $4.00 for both (or $2.00 each if you just need one)

1964
black Barbie®, Ken®, Midge™ binder - marked "BARBIE",
"KEN" and "MIDGE" are registered trademarks of Mattel, Inc.
for its TEEN-AGE DOLLS. Used under license from Mattel, Inc.© 1964
Mattel, Inc. The binder has Barbie, Ken and Midge in white script font and
heads of each doll in that order across the top part. The bottom part has
a titian Bubble Cut Barbie wearing "Knitting Pretty", a blonde Ken
wearing "Campus Hero" and a titian Midge wearing "Sorority
Meeting". This very hard to find binder is in very good condition.
The graphics are very good with hardly any scratches at all. They are
maybe a bit faded, not as bright as they would have been when brand new. I see one
small dot scratch to the paint of Midge's right knee, one small dot scratch on
Ken's white pants, another dot on Ken's head's forehead and a small chip in the
paint at the top middle of Bubble Cut Barbie's head of hair. All of these
are pretty minor. I don't see any tears in the vinyl or rust on the inside
metal three-ring paper holder. Found on page 145 of Connie Craig Kaplan's
"Collector's Guide to Barbie Doll Vinyl Cases" book (pictured in red
vinyl in the book). Apparently very rare. E-mail me for a larger photo.
$80.00 (or best offer!)
1964 "Barbie Arabian Nights" Little Theatre costume - "gold" and turquoise round bead Y front necklace. Harder to find. Very good condition. $13.00
1964 "Barbie Arabian Nights" Little Theatre costume - "gold" and turquoise round bead Y front necklace. Harder to find. No missing beads but I can see the inside aqua thread sticking out in two places, so it may have had a repair at one point. Not sure. Still would look fine for display. $9.00
Mid 1990's "From Barbie With Love" by ENESCO "Bride's
Dream" Limited Edition porcelain musical figurine. Plays Musical-"True Love". In the original box however the store sold
her to me in the "Midnight Blue" box instead of the "Bride's
Dream" box. Not sure why, as she was purchased brand new. I
noticed the box label was wrong after the fact! She is a lovely titian bubblecut Barbie. Real lace/tulle
overlay over the porcelain underskirt. She has been removed from box only to
look at a few times, then put back - never displayed. Just gorgeous.
Hard to find. $50.00
